Florida woman d+es after falling nearly 1,000 feet from Italian mountain while reportedly taking photo

A 36-year-old woman from Florida has d+ied after reportedly losing her balance and falling from a mountain overlook in Italy while attempting to take a photograph.

Michelle Alejandra Rubio Leiva was hiking with her family in the Dolomites near Val di Fassa, in the Trentino region, last weekend when the incident occurred, according to Italian media reports cited by TMZ.

Local reports estimated that she fell as far as 980 feet, although the exact distance has not been established.

The family was reportedly heading towards a cable car that would take them to a restaurant farther up the mountain when Rubio Leiva fell.

Rescuers reached her at the scene, but a doctor confirmed her d+eath. The other members of her family were subsequently airlifted from the mountain.

Rubio Leiva graduated from Brigham Young University in 2012. She worked as a digital nomad and had reportedly lived in Rome the previous year.
